DEAR FRIENDS WHO LOVE JANE...
She always encouraged us to go ahead, not hang back in convention: she
was a Ben Franklin Quaker, never retreating, as gentle as she was on
the outside. And so I make for you and all those across the world and
in my family who must know of her going from a lover who could not
bear to tell the truth....HERE IS A NEW ELEGY BREAKING ALL THE ELEGIAC
RULES, unflinching in its desire to welcome YOU to speak, sing, show
up in our "red zones" for Blog interaction...give us words to sounds
to images to videos. LET US TOGETHER MAKE A NEW ELEGY that will tell
the truth about WHY this happened, not only How (we know that: blood
clot in her beloved, battered lungs) but Why as I discover it (OF one
thing I'm already certain: she SHOULDN'T BE DEAD AT THIS MOMENT (her
day to day doctors cried and could not believe the news when I told
them).....so....IT IS A NEW ELEGY THAT PRESERVES THE LIFE OF THE WOMAN
WE HONOR... FOR- EVER...in her beauty, in her mind, in her soft/strong
manner, in her words, in YOUR response to both....JANE FOR DEFIANTLY
EVER is the first in a series that in the end will begin to define
TheWorld's First Unblocked Blog. * She has inspired us to move this
way... So have you, you who have written and called and prayed and
cried for her going. Again, she has taught me a lot by leaving me so
suddenly, so unexpectedly (the week her PSA tested her so positively
he gave her a flu shot!) about what it means not to have her near,
after 35 years of her playing guardian to me in this mad city, in
Texas, in California, Australia, Japan, Russia, Poland, France,
Germany, Canada....making me, with millions of others, a truly truly
alone alone Widower at the moment when he is handi-capped
(temporarily, please, dear God) by two surgeries leading right up to
her death.

So Jane For Defiant Ever defies all media restrictions, opens you up
to links of all kinds.... to at least one Op Ed I just wrote about
Grief and the culture that ignores it....to videos and phone con-
versations where she spoke (and you can speak to her memory) ...to
books...to my own autobiography, recounting the phenomena of Fluxus
and Soho, to websites ALL LINKED from these pages:

But what matters in all of this is...the emergence of a new one to one
personal humanity...reaching throughout the world, even into the arms
of our "Enemy," the "other" that emerged on 9/11, particularly
